Cadet Challenge
Go the Distance
If you thought completing a 13 mile marathon on your own was challenging you’ll find doing it as a team requires more than physical fitness.
Cadet forces who enter the Go the Distance challenge must complete the 13.1 mile course together, in a way that demonstrates creativity as well as physical toughness and mental stamina.

Are you up to it?
Completing a half marathon is accessible to anyone in reasonable physical shape. To Go the Distance, you’ll need more. We’re looking for:
- Effective teamwork
- Clever thinking
- A sense of humour – especially when things get tough!
- The will to win
Go the Distance with a St Dunstaner
When you enter the challenge, a blind ex-Service man or woman from St Dunstan’s will come to your Cadet Force to tell you all about the charity and what will be expected of you when you enter the challenge. He or she will also be part of your team, so you can call upon years of experience and smart thinking to help you win.
Be creative!
We’re looking for great ideas on how you can complete the course in a way that doesn’t just demonstrate the toughness and determination needed for a half marathon, but shows inventiveness, and initiative too. Whether you decide to run in uniform or march in full kit, combine various skills or employ unusual props, your imagination is the only limit.
