Climb Mount Kilimanjaro, 3rd to 12th February 2011
In February 2011 St Dunstan’s are working with leading UK charity events operator Action Challenge, to provide one of the ultimate fundraising experiences.
From 3rd to the 12th February, you could join other supporters on the popular yet challenging Machame Route 6 day trek, which begins on the southern side of the mountain; this is the most scenic route and due to the undulating terrain also allows for good acclimatisation and boasts a high success rate of completion. You can sign up to Climb Kilimanjaro for an initial registration fee of £349. At 5895m high Kilimanjaro is the tallest free standing mountain in the world, and trekking to the snow-capped summit is a challenging yet fantastically rewarding experience that 's worth every minute of the effort when you are starring down across the vast African plains - the views will leave you awestruck! As you trek through varying terrain, the climate changes from humid rainforest where you may spot indigenous wildlife, across rocky moon scape deserts and finally up to the glacial Uhuru peak.
