Introducing Dunstan the Dog
St Dunstan’s has a new mascot. Twenty teddy bear ‘Dunstan the Dogs’ have been made and adopted by RAF, Army and Navy Units. The units will be accompanied wherever they go and capture the dog’s travels on camera. With a little help from the UK’s tri-Service personnel, Dunstan hopes to raise funds to enable St Dunstan’s to continue to provide lifelong support and rehabilitation to blind ex-Service men and women.
Meet Dunstan and his friends
A number of Dunstan the Dogs are already on the road, you can follow them on our map, read about their exciting travels and donate to this worthy cause. The dogs, complete with cool shades, long cane, t-shirts and combat trousers, were the idea of St Dunstaner Corporal Simon Brown of REME who lost his sight when hit by sniper fire whist carrying out a rescue in Iraq. Although they may look the same, they all have their own identities and some have already been named by their adoptive Units.

Where are they now?
Having scaled the heights of Mount Everest, sailed part-way around the world and visited the plains of the Maasai Mara, ‘Dunstan the Dog’ is continuing his travels across the globe to raise funds for
St Dunstan’s. Check out their whereabouts
Top Dog
Every month we'll be awarding the title of Top Dog to one of our Dunstans. Is your's the most travelled dog, the best fundraiser or have you just got a fun story to tell?
This months's Top Dog is Dog 18 or Willie as he is fondly known. Amongst his many travels Willie is currently training with ex members of 1st Royal Tank Regiment (Scarborough Branch) who will be completing a sponsored walk in aid of St Dunstan's from 15th to 18th of September 2010. The route starts in Richmond, North Yorkshire and ends 75 miles away at Robin Hoods Bay. St Dunstaner Simon Brown will be joining in the walk for some of the route too.
Many thanks to all those who are helping out behind the scenes including Mike Brown and Steve Matthews.
Good luck to everyone who's taking part, make sure to get lots of pictures of Willie along the way!
