Archie and Anne Clarke celebrated with St Dunstan's

Anne & Archie Clarke

St Dunstaner Archie and his wife Anne celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on 3rd October 2009.

Archie became a St Dunstaner in 2005 after losing his sight completely, he had served in the RAF Volunteer Reserve and the RAF between 1939 and 1945.  The Clarkes went to Ovingdean for their induction and Archie has since returned for respite and nursing care and together they have enjoy holidays at the centre.

The Clarkes asked friends and family to donate to charity to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary and raised vital funds which St Dunstan's can use to help other blinded ex-Servicemen and women.

'It's wonderful to receive the support from St Dunstan's, Archie is returning to Ovingdean in January. We were delighted to be able to give something back'

Reverend Julie Oddy-Bates and Mr Peter Bates celebrated with St Dunstan's

Julie & Peter Bates

Julie & Peter celebrated their marriage on 19th September 2009.  They sent a request to friends and family with their wedding invitations asking if they would donate to their chosen charities rather than buy them presents.

Peter has been raising money for St Dunstan's for many years as a member of the Wavy Navy and Julie recently lost the sight in one eye as the result of a blood clot.

‘We felt it would be good to help others with sight problems.’
